ROWENA’S ~ MUSIC PLAYLIST

ROWENA’S ~ MUSIC PLAYLIST

As I worked hard to complete Rowena, I found that certain songs popped into my head when I was writing. Of course; I figured that since I tend to write to music, particular songs would stand out. Still; during my rewriting, and editing stages, I would find myself hunting for those specific songs. Was it crazy to hear a song while writing scenes? Hell, I don’t know lol. I just know that those songs have stuck to certain scenes within the book and they fit the scenes. I could visualize the scene playing out as the song played.

What do I do with the music that just won’t stop playing in my head?

Can you say “Research?” So; I started researching how to build a book playlist. The first thing I saw on the internet was about the length of the playlist. People had different opinions on how long they think a playlist should be. With that knowledge in hand, I just decided to let it flow. I decided that Rowena’s playlist length would be long or short, based on the songs.

I posted Rowena’s Playlist on my Pinterest account a few weeks ago. I wanted to see how it was received. Rowena’s Playlist is diverse, and it actually shows some of the music that I love to listen to when I write. Give me R&B, Smooth Jams, Rap, Rock, Jazz, and so on! I did try to keep my playlist from getting out of control. I tried hard to stick to the songs that just stood out and screamed ROWENA.

A little advice; If you are building a playlist, remember to write down your songs (artist, song title). I made this mistake with an Eminem song and found myself listening to all of his stuff just to get to that one song that I needed. But when I got to that song, literally fire in my ears, and I found myself shouting with the lyrics. Yep, remember to write those songs down right away. Also, remember the actual artist. There are so many remakes out now that you could have the title, and end up having the wrong artist listed.
