SOUTHSIDE BOOK AND WRITERS CLUB FEBRUARY BOOK REVIEW
RHYTHM TO MY BEAT BOOK REVIEW
This book caused a heated debate between SBWC members. We all had different opinions and viewpoints about what we read. Now, that’s the power of a good book, it can make you think, and debate points that you felt were important.
‘Rhythm to my beat’ was a solid story, the storyline flowed nonstop. From Sinceres' first glance, of Shai to the drama, that caused their breakup. Shai was the victim in this story. This story was about first love, betrayal, and loss. Sincere, in a way, was also a victim, but he became a willing victim! Someone that allowed, another to constantly wrong him, and he would keep coming back for more.
He used Shai, in a way that no man or woman should be used. He used her, or punished her for a better word, because of what had been done to him, what he had allowed. This book has lessons on love, life, and human behavior all through it. Whether you liked or disliked Shai, Sincere, or any of the other characters, you could definitely find one of them to relate too in some way.
The only thing missing or what we felt was missing, was the back story about the relationship of Sincere and his ex-wife. For this man to act the way he did, what happened to him or what the hell did the ex-wife do to him? We hope that the writer comes out with a part two, and answers some questions about all of her characters.
